The Ghana Education Service (GES), the Government’s sole agency responsible for the training/development of education in the country, selected eight special schools to undergo the Post-JSS Vocational/Technical Programme, which commenced in September
2004. Both the deaf and blind who have attained the BECE can proceed to the Post JSS programme or Senior Secondary School (SSS)/Technical Vocational Institutes. Some of its objectives are:

- to produce craft men/women through the provision of quality oriented industry focused, and competency-based training for the world of work
- increase income-earning capacities through skill training life long learning and integration into modern economy.

It is a four-year programme in the following disciplines:
- Dressmaking/Tailoring
- Textile (Batik, Tie & Dye), Catering, Agriculture
- Carpentry
- Computing (ICT)

The programme will help students to acquire practical knowledge for future vocations, to live more independent lives and play a fuller role in society.
